Maverick wasn’t very well fleshed out so the Basic info is certainly editable as far as Essense and such. He was an Orphan with Prime as his Affinity.
Ashe is a product of his upbringing in rural California. He grew up having a deep respect for the land that provided for his family and with a loyal and patriotic leaning to his country. The young man has always been one to stand up for the underdog, though he has a tendency to be a bit too gung ho and quick to anger where the downtrodden are concerned. He’d be the first to leap to his feet to help a buddy in a bar brawl and the one chasing down the thief who stole a woman’s purse. While this might make him seem like a good old boy with a heart of gold, Ashe does have a darker side. He is willing to go to any lengths he sees as necessary to protect what is his. The only redeeming quality about that conviction is that, for the more severe the measure, the more thought he puts into the action. He is entirely willing to harm or kill someone, if required, but he will only do so if there is no other way. As if in contrast to how he views his personal life, Ashe takes his craft very seriously. He was taught, from a young age, by his grandfather to work metal and craft living weapons from steel as his ancestors have been doing for centuries. His craft is his life and his passion, a religious experience as he takes the raw materials and transforms them into objects of deadly beauty. When he is working, he is calm and serene. Each step of the process is undertaken with great care and skill, to rush is to do a disservice to the art of his craft. These two aspects of Yin and Yang bring balance to his life.
Ashe attended the local college to learn metallurgy and combine that scientific learning with what was passed on to him from his grandfather.
By the time Ashe was 25, he had surpassed his grandfather in skill and ability. Many who knew of Ashe compared his skill to the likes of his ancestors and his blades were in high demand, under his grandfather’s name. Ashe was still much too young for it to be accepted that he had this level of skill and his grandfathers health was failing, so it was logical, in Ashe’s mind to continue to use his grandfather’s name for the business. Afterall, he was still an apprentice.
When Ashe was 26, his grandfather passed away in his sleep. The doctors all said it was peaceful, but it left Ashe feeling empty. That emptiness lead Ashe to spend more time dedicated to his craft, something to take his mind off of his loss. During one of these sessions, when Ashe was practicing folding metal and trying to hammer out the imperfections of the steel that something happened. Something awakened in him and sent him reeling. As he was concentrating on the steel and the reasoning behind the technique, he was struck by an understanding so deep that it left him stunned at how little he knew. If felt like he’d fallen down a well and plunged into cold water. His eyes were suddenly open to the world around him and he knew so little! His awakening got no fanfare, there were no traditions to train him, but his Avatar, guided him according to the Akashic Tradition. Over time, he began to be able to reach out with his power. To be able to affect the world around him in small ways. For Ashe, it was only natural to turn this power towards his craft. He could smooth out and get rid of imperfections in the metal, he knew when the material was as strong as it could be. The temperature of the forge and the quench could be managed more precisely. He was able to use his magick to take his skills to the next level of understanding. This newfound understanding lead Ashe to crave and dream of something more. To be able to somehow imbue his blades with this unknown power, to shape the metal and create something otherworldly. It didn’t take long before this desire became something of an obsession. The -need- to know more and the be able to do more than what he was able to achieve on his own. His swords are masterful, but they could be more…
