Zaluut sighs as he sets about making preperations for guests. He did hope they understood this would not be a regular thing. This was his private place. For him and for Kitt.
■► Cassian ◄■ walked out into the forest, heading toward what he knew was Zaluut’s property now. After sensing where the line of property was, he’d stand directly on one of the lines to the property, waiting for a signal he could come forward.
Zaluut pauses as something seems to whisper to him before nodding to himself. The trees part ways and open up, revealing a path toward Zaluut’s garden and house. He goes to the door and waits there for Cassian’s approach.
■► Cassian ◄■ noticing the trees moving and the clear path to Zaluut’s garden and house, strolls forward, looking about with some interest as he approaches the house. He’d walk up to the door, where Zaluut was. “Greetings, Zaluut. Thank you for allowing me to come here.”
Zaluut nods as he looks Cassian over for a moment, “Well I dare say the city itself would appreciate it rather than the reverse. That mistake is getting more powerful, and it is time that it be taken care of before it can reach whatever potential it is moving toward.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods in agreement. “Yes, I do agree with you. This mistake has the potential to do more than just trouble my group of people collectively and it is building up to do so. So.. how are you this evening?”
Zaluut nods without ever taking his eyes off of him. “I am expecting company. Some of the Sabbat will be joining to hunt this creature. They have agreed to obey my terms in my territory, but it would be wise not to offer them an opportunity to cause damage to you or those who will be working with you.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I will ensure the others from my side will be in the know and are responsible for their actions, which they should know anyway but we get how these things work.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Is there anything in preparation on your end we should know? The group I will be bringing may not be just Kindred.”
Zaluut stares off toward the forest, and then shakes his head. “I am aware of the mages and spirit-beasts. They in fact paid me a visit recently. They shall be assisting for the daylight, yes?”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “Yes, they will. With their help, we should be able to maintain a strong cycle and do the process of elimination if nothing else, to find it.”
Zaluut nods. “I will have my Bratovich bring the dogs down from the North to keep it herded to this side of the bridge. That will narrow the search.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “That will be a good help. It is breaking wards, and draining energy from areas around the wards, unweaving them and leaving ‘dead zones’.”
Zaluut nods once more. “Yes. And it can sense when I am not at home, even with the spirit barriers up. How it is accomplishing this I am unsure.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “It is watching. I felt it out in the brambles when I was out talking to someone else.”
Zaluut scans the forest around his home and then nods. “I might have a way to track it better, but it would require a considerable amount of trust on your part.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Trust is something I can grant on a reasonable level.”
Zaluut raises an eyebrow and focuses on him directly, his voice serious. “If I had vitae from the one that intended to make it, this… Brandon person, I could have the spirits track that spark of vitae in the creature.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “That is asking for quite a bit of trust indeed. We both know the power of owning someone’s vitae.”
Zaluut nods. “If it eases your mind you may be present when I cast the ritual.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I would need also your promise that the blood will only be used for said ritual and will not come back to haunt my choice and risk one of my own in the future.”
Zaluut studies him a moment. “Tell me first, do you consider yourself a warrior or a wizard, Cassian?”
■► Cassian ◄■ “To be straight up, I see myself as a combat mage.. a warrior who wields magick as my main weapon, but I have others.”
■► Cassian ◄■ gestures to his katana.
Zaluut smirks. “Oh, a katana, how anime of you. Especially with the hair.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I suppose that is rather anime-ish, though it was not my goal. I had an Eppe for years but wanted something more durable that sliced off heads instead of just poking people with it. It’s not so useful to be a fencer when you are fighting vampires and what not.”
Zaluut nods faintly, looking at the weapon. “Still not so durable as a good longsword or broadsword. If it hits a body, fine, but anything else and you’ll ruin that blade.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I can enhance it to be more durable, and do things like light it on fire, which tends to work well versus most things. I have not really had access to any special long swords or broadswords, so this is what I’ve used for a few years now. I will look into it, if you have some suggestions. I can see you are a very solid warrior so I’d value your
Zaluut eyes him again, “You flatter me, as you have not seen me in combat as of yet. I will agree to your terms and offer my word as a warrior that I will not use the vitae for any ritual other than the one I mentioned.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Some things you can tell by one’s demeanor and how they hold themselves. You do not really try to conceal that.”
Zaluut looks back out toward the forest and then back to Cassian once more. “How old are you?”
■► Cassian ◄■ looks off a moment at the forest and then responds after doing some quick calculating, “779 years old.”
Zaluut observes him quietly for a moment, “You are different from others of your line I have met. Especially for your age. I was around for a long time before the Tremere got started. I am two and a half times your age.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I was supernatural before I was Tremere, so that probably helps to make a difference. My path was familiar with others prior to this journey, which not many Tremere can claim beyond posessing some insights or abilities that were seen as useful. My perspective tends to be more honest to what is going on about me and the history is something I
can do little about, but I like to think there is a future to change things.”
Zaluut listens and then nods. “I see. Kefira was not very subtle about having seen you before. Do you know her?”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “I do and we had a good talk. What I can accept and know, I will not pass onto others. There are some secrets worth keeping to keep people from doing foolish things they would come to regret.”
Zaluut’s demeanor changes slightly as he studies Cassian carefully and determines he is not lying. “Do you know what has become of her then? Does she still reside within New Orleans?”, his voice carries a hint of concern with it
■► Cassian ◄■ frowns slightly and shakes his head. “No, I do not, but I know my group has nothing to do with it. They do not know anything pertaining to her. I know she had a friendship with one of yours, Kitt, I believe her name is. That is the last I heard from her was she was going to leave the city and go see Kitt. Perhaps she fled from the demonic powers
that play against both of us, though it doesn’t seem her way.”
Zaluut frowns and glances toward the second floor and shakes his head. “She did not come here. Or was perhaps intercepted by something else. I do not believe she would have fled. She was a warrior, and a holy one at that.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “Yes, I agree. It just would not be in her nature.” He’d look at the forest now, frowning, because the possibility that this creature might have gotten her was now up there.
Zaluut nods to Cassian. “We fear the same thing then. We will meet at my border just after sundown. If the others have not found it before then, we will.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “Understood. I will go prepare then and let the Mages know to be ready as well to begin their search tomorrow in the day.”
Zaluut nods to him and briefly glances up again. “Have a good rest of your evening. I shall continue preperations here.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods. “Good evening.” He then would head off back to the woods and give a little wave up so that the sneaky Kitt, he suspected, could see it. He then was gone. ~
Zaluut heads inside to have a conversation with Kitt about eavesdropping on ones elders.
