*Katarina* is going to the marina to surrender to the police.
<Storyteller> The police pick Katarina up, handcuff her, and put her in the back of the car.
*Katarina* doesn’t resist, going with them.
<Storyteller> She is taken to the police station, and walked back toward one of the back rooms. One of the men fills out some paperwork as they get her into the room and seated.
*Katarina* goes with them, looking around the station’s interior before being seated inside a room.
<Storyteller> One of the men looks to Katarina and sits down across from her. “You are not currently under arrest, we just want your statement as to what happened. So, tell us what you saw.”
*Katarina* “I saw a man come out of the back of a police car and kill the two cops. He wasn’t there before when they caught me, oddly enough.”
<Storyteller> The police do not look very convinced. “What did he look like? Are you sure he came from the car?”
*Katarina* “I don’t know. And yes. He wasn’t there before.”
<Storyteller> “Are you on drugs? Was this guy your pimp maybe?”
*Katarina* eyes them both. “No, I’m not. And I’m not a prostitute.”
<Storyteller> “Then why were you picking up all those different men? We have you on video.”
*Katarina* “For nice evening chats?”
<Storyteller> They appear quite dubious now. “You expect us to believe that?”
*Katarina* “Well, given I’m not a prostitute, yes?”
<Storyteller> “Hmmm, well that is not what the men have said exactly… seems that you left them lighter of head and of wallet. Were you drugging them?”
*Katarina* “Maybe I might’ve been?”
<Storyteller> “So now you are admitting to drugging people?”
<Storyteller> “Okay, what were you drugging them with?”
<Storyteller> They look at each other, then back at Katarina. “Are you trying to be funny?”
*Katarina* “Honestly, I don’t know. I mean, I have no idea.”
<Storyteller> “You really need to be straight with us. You say that you were drugging people, stealing from them, and yet we are supposed to believe a man appeared out of nowhere and killed two cops in front of you and left you alone.”
*Katarina* “I am being straight with you!”
<Storyteller> One of the men slams a hand down on the table. “No you aren’t! So maybe this guy, he was your dealer and he killed those cops for you?”
*Katarina* “I don’t know who the fuck he was! But I’ll possibly agree with that second part.
<Storyteller> “So the man you say you do not know killed those police officers as a favor to you? Is that it?”
*Katarina* “I think so. He didn’t stick around after that for me to ask him, so I don’t know for sure.”
<Storyteller> Both of the men get up and leave the room, shutting the door behind them and leaving her alone in there.
<Storyteller> It is so quiet in here.
*Katarina* looks around, trying to see if there’s cameras.
<Storyteller> But then she starts to hear some music over the speaker… “We’ve only just begun…”
*Katarina* “Oh, fucking c’mon. Really? 1408?”
<Storyteller> As Katarina looks to the mirror in the room she swears that for a moment she saw someone else’s reflection in place of her own and David’s face looked squarely back at her.
*Katarina* lets out a string of colorful curses in Romanian when she sees David’s face.
*Katarina* jerks her chair toward the mirror.
<Storyteller> Her own reflection grins insanely back at her, she can hear laughter over the speakers now.
*Katarina* launches into a blistering series of Romanian curses insulting David, his ancestors, and various other things.
*Katarina* then settled back in her chair, looking somewhat pissed.
<Storyteller> The reflection disappears as the door opens once more and reveals the two cops once more, along with another familair face.
*Katarina* drops the pissed look as the cops open the door.
■► Cassian ◄■ nods to Katarina. “Good evening.”
*Katarina* “Hey there.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “You are being released to me so that I can take you to a rehabilation center to be evaluated and held for a time. Do you understand?”
*Katarina* “Have you come to r…yeah, I got it.”
*Katarina* “Well, lead the way, Prince Charming.”
<Storyteller> The cops back off and let Cassian take care of the crazy duggy woman. “All yours, Doctor.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Thank you, officers. Have a good night.” He’d escort Katarina on out of the precinct with a cop’s assistance while she would be cuffed. Once in the vehicle she would be uncuffed and he’d drive the vehicle from the parking lot on out and they were on the road. “So… apparently you did not go along with the strategy and the police have
had to debate whether you are of sane mind or not. Is there a reason you strayed from saying you were trying out hooking that night and somehow the story changed to getting more complex?”
*Katarina* followed Cassian out and into the car, getting her cuffs removed along the way. “I panicked a bit?”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Why? Those cops were from Dupre. You were in good hands.”
*Katarina* “I guess I panicked a bit when they asked me if the guy was my pimp.” She checks to see if the windows were rolled up before focusing on Cassian. “David showed up, the fucker.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “All you had to say was ‘no’ and that you never saw him before this night. If you can stick to mostly the truth on these stories you make up, the easier it is to be more believable and you don’t have to remember extra things. You kind of botched some things with your story being altered like that. The cops were meant to take down your account
and get the attention off of you. You were just supposed to be some girl that decided to prostitute for the night but it didn’t go well, at all, and this man terrified you…you didn’t want to do it again, give them their info and it was done. Now.. it’s become more complicated.”
■► Cassian ◄■ nods about David. “I saw the tail end of it. We will work on what to do about David. For now, I need to decide on what to do about you messing this account up. You’re going to be in ‘rehab’ a few days so you can calm down and get your story straight and explain the murder was a surprise and you needed this time to get in control and recount
*Katarina* nods. “Right, gotcha.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “This means do not go out in public the next few days as ..yourself. If other police catch you out there, it would make things really bad. Stay mainly at home for the next few days and I will come over and we can work on this police account you need to deliver properly.”
*Katarina* nods to Cassian.
■► Cassian ◄■ “If you honestly feel you cannot ‘lie’ effectively, I could just dominate you to tell the situation how it needs to go, if you’d be willing to go through that.”
*Katarina* “Maybe? I’ll keep my options open?”
■► Cassian ◄■ “Well, you will need to get your story straight or that is the only option we have. I will be questioning you in two days. Stay out of trouble. Have Marge help you out if need be. Do you need to feed?”
*Katarina* “I’ll try my best not to get into trouble. As for feeding, maybe tomorrow.”
*Katarina* “And I’ll talk to Marge ASAP.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I’ll bring you something. Do not go out, as I said. Work on your story you are going to say to the cops as you will be coming out of rehab. If it is not suitable when I listen to it, we will need to use dominate to make the story believable.”
*Katarina* nods. “Understood.”
■► Cassian ◄■ pulls up to her place and pulls the vehicle over. “You have any questions? If not, have a good night. We’ll get back to this soon, so stay low.”
*Katarina* “What’s in mind for David? Because I don’t think I can take much more of that bastard.”
■► Cassian ◄■ “I will need to talk to some others about how we will deal with him and that situation. He might be a problem until we can contend with the demon itself and that scenario, but if we can secure him earlier, we will. After all, now he’s a wraith and there are rituals and means. Just call me if you can and we’ll figure out something.”
*Katarina* nods and heads inside. “Will do, Cassie.”
■► Cassian ◄■ makes sure to note to self.. “Remember…” As he’s driving back to the chantry… “When I do dominate her to put in something amusing that she will say at the right time.”
