<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> Getting into New Orleans really isn’t that difficult, though the two main ways in are both watched. Charity Hospital is downtown, across from the working hospital.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° heads to the Charity Hospital and studies it for a way to get in where obfuscate will actually work semi-decently. If not, he was going to have to trust his acting skills. *cough*
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> The homeless on the ground floor of the hospital don’t even seem to notice Talwar when he comes sneaking around, though laregly in part to his Obfuscate most likely. The ghosts are another matter though, as the grounds seem full of them, they are drawn here for some reason.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° would acquire a obfuscated look that would blend in with those around, more poor ripped up clothes, his hair more unkempt, some dirt smudges here or there, and a long military sort of worn old green jacket. He’d roam through the people, working his way more away from the people to get to where he might be able to talk, going up a couple floors to see if he can get any spirits to talk.
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> The spirits here notice him immediately, but most stay out of his way or avoid him as if used to being percieved. He also gets the distinct feeling of being watched, and a black cat has taken up following him through the halls.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I am seeking Krista.” He would say a few times as he walked some distance. “Please come speak to me. It is urgent for a friend.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) After a few times of asking, eventually the spirit of a motherly woman comes out. She has angelic features, white flowing form except for black hands and eyes. “Who are you? Why do you disturb those in my care?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> The black cat edges closer and rubs up against Talwar’s leg, mewling softly.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° doesn’t seem to mind the cat, but yeah, he was paying attention to the thing. For all he knew, some Malk was looking through it and it wasn’t going to do any good to just run away at this point. If it had found him so easily even when he was being subtle and blending in, obfuscate otherwise wouldn’t help if he went invisible either. “I apologize for disturbing anyone. It was not my intention. I have a friend who knows you and wishes to speak to you of matters in which you may aid her.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista looks to the cat, and then back to Talwar. “You can see us, but you are not Giovanni. Nor like the ones that live here. But I do not know you. She is watching you, the old woman uses the cats. So many of them, they see much for her.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “I realize that and I do not wish to offend that person either. It had been my choice to not be interruptive but I knew the chances when I came that it might be more difficult. I come here in peace and wish to leave that way. I am not Giovanni. I do not know that my Clan would be more welcome though. This is a gift I had during life that passed to me in undeath.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “None of your Cainite business matters to me. You know my name, so who sent you?”, Krista asks as she seems to blink in and out of existance, flickering down the hall from him and then back again. “The old woman is just curious, it’s the ones upstairs, her children, that can be malicious as they consider this place their territory.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I like cats so I do not mind.” He’d scratch the cat’s ears since it was being nice, whether by force or not. He’d then look back at the spirit. “Kitt sent me.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista moves a little closer, examining Talwar more closely. “Hollow said that she was taken by that old one out in the forest. She is alive?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I do not know of Hollow..but yes, she does.” He nods and seems to be a rather not duplitious, for someone who shields himself with obfuscate, anyway.
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “Why send you, where is she?”, Krista asks. She watches both him and the hallway, though it is hard to tell exactly where her black eyes are focusing.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Not here. I can take you there.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° steps to the side and then two steps back as he feels something is there, though he was not sure what. He was tempted to draw a blade but resisted. This was someone else’s territory. “She is not well so I am here in her steed.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David comes out of the shadows where Talwar moved away, and looks down at the cat which moves to sit at Talwar’s feet. “Mama likes you and that’s the only reason you aren’t dead yet, stranger.”, he eyes the area where Talwar was looking. “You come here to talk to the dead?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods politely to David. “Yes, I did. My apologies for the intrusion.” He’d play down his abilities for the moment because there was always the chance one of them other than the two elders were on his level and he wasn’t there to kick the hornet’s nest.
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista looks thoughtful a moment longer then finally relents. “Alright. I will go with you.”, she turns to one of the other spirits nearby. “If I am not back in a few days, tell Hollow she has some vampires to add to her list.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Thank you, Krista.” He smiled just a little bit and bowed politely to her.
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David nods slightly at Talwar and watches him since he was being polite. “Where are you from?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “India originally”, he responded. “I am of an Independent Clan, though as I said, not Giovanni.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David looks mildly surprised. “You are not kidding. Interesting. I personally don’t care since you aren’t after any of us. Besides, I have friends up north.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “I am glad you do not care.” He smirks slightly. “It was nice to meet you. Thank you for allowing me this trespass. I will return with a gift for you and your Mama.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David nods, watching him carefully. “You caused no harm, you did not steal our food down below and cause any damage. But I do suggest you not linger. There are some out looking for tresspassers this evening after the incident at Mardi gras.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “Understandable. Thank you. If I may, what is your name?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David narrows his gaze at Talwar for a moment before responding. “David. And you are? Trained in evading someone reading your thoughts, but you need practice. You are… always practicing.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I do try to avoid that and I will take your advice to continue practicing. My name is Talwar.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> David nods. “You should be going if you’re going to make it home before dawn. Good luck in helping your friend, and good night.”, saying that he fades from view along with the cat… leaving the hallway empty save for Talwar and the ghosts.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods and then scritches the kitty cat’s ears and then would head on out with the ghostie Krista, to take back to Kitt.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° would make sure to obfuscate to invisible and do some twists and turns along the way cuz he didn’t really want trouble following, but in positives it was close enough to dawn that it would be a bad idea to do too much for them. If krista wanted to talk, he would as they went but otherwise, he’d bring her to Kitt.
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista follows Talwar, keeping quiet until they are close to the Asylum. “Why are you doing this for Kitt? And what has happened that she would need my help?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Kitt is a friend and she has had interesting developments take place that we are trying to work out. I do not know that I should talk about it as she told me what to tell you and gave no indication that I should share that information.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “Then she is worried about something… the voice must be back. Did she have a close call recently?”, Krista seems to glide alongside Talwar as she speaks.
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° sighs softly and then nods. “Yes, but I had a talk with it and I think another did as well by now.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista frowns at that. “That is not good. You’ll just give it fuel if you don’t know what you are doing. It likely is feeding on whatever trauma she has suffered at the hands of your kind, no offense.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I ..know somewhat of what I am doing and what is going on.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I’m not an expert, but I’m not terribly ignorant.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista turns those black eyes on Talwar as they get to the Asylum’s outer walls. “Do you? You are familiar then with the darkness which dwells within every soul? That voice that calls to the void.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I am familiar with this spirit and what incident transpired to put him inside her by the Blood. The procedure is what I speak of and what can happen when it does not go well…or in this case, circumstances were not so clear.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I am not claiming to know things from your side of the fence. Please do not think that. I just mean from my side, I do…as of the nature of what I am..what my kind are and the curse.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista pauses. “Wait. Someone tried to make her like you? Is that what you are saying?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “To make her Kindred, yes. The Blood carried the spirit within it to her. She changed but the voice is the soul of that other being residing within the Blood for all these years.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “Now I see why she didn’t tell you. Kitt has died before. Hollow removed her caul but some others brought her back. It was why she could see us. Removing that caul removed the barrier that keeps the Shadow at bay. Dying to become one of you would have made it so much stronger.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Explain what is this..’caul’ please. I think I understand but want to be sure.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista remains alongside of talwar. “It is like the same as when you are born, except over your spirit when you die. Removed, it awakens the soul to a new state. It is rare for someone to be returned to life after such a thing, but possible. However, they are never the same.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° frowns and then nods. “I see. That explains some things. How did she return to life so that she could become a vampire?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista looks toward the buildings in the Asylum. “She was drowned. Hollow found her spirit stuggling and reaped her caul… but medicine nowadays… paramedics revived her. She could see across the Shroud after that, Hollow stayed with her for a while and that is how I came to know her as she helped many wraiths deliver messages they were unable to themselves.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “ah, I see.” * he looks thoughtful. “Well, that does make more sense too. So she has talked to you then since she became Kindred?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista shakes her head. “No. I was not aware of this change. Hollow mentioned the one in the forest taking Kitt and chasing her off. We didn’t know he had made her a vampire. Seeing as how she is from New Orleans… most wouldn’t even consider it.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I suppose that is true but we are a persistent group of beings and some will cross whatever barrier to get what they want, just because said barrier is there.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “Well, her already having died once is the only thing that made her able to bypass the curse, the Spectres wouldn’t pay attention to anything not in a caul. But I know what she needs and I will help her as best I can, but I cannot stay long. But know this, this is not an outside spirit, but a part of her. It will lie to you to get what it wants.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Someone I trust quite a bit said the spirit was in the Blood.. and it was an old friend of his. So yes, it is part of her, but are you saying it cannot be divided from her or is it not intact enough?”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “I figured we could perhaps change someone else to Kindred with that blood, to give him a new host.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista looks thoughtful. “I do not know how to explain. The Shadow knows things, secret things from the Void. It will prey not only on its host but everyone else as well. It feeds on emotions, like guilt, or anger… and it will seek to draw those out in people around it by any means it can.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “So are you saying this spirit is not this person’s friend…it is something else?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista nods. “Exactly. Why she asked for me but couldn’t say why… because if it knew, it’d fight back. My hands are black from the taint caused by touching the darkness in a person’s soul, drawing it out to weaken it. Imagine that … Beast as your kind calls it, but with a malicious will and hive-mind intelligence.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° nods. “You are very sure, because I will want to tell her sire so he understands too and will feel less guilt from such a thing.”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) “She is calm, yes? For your kind? She does not even seem to have that intensity of hunger that is prominent in your kind?”, Krista asks. “Because her soul is divided. But I will know for sure when I see her. If I can draw her Shadow out, then you will know. If not, then it must be as you say… a seperate spirit.”
<@Death> °¥ Talwar Khanna ¥° “Will you let me monitor this?”
<@Aeon-Rook> <Storyteller> (Shadowlands) Krista nods. “That is mostly up to her, but when I draw it out, she may need to be restrained. Since I will have a hard time doing to to a physical body, you may have to.”
