Session Ident: #Aeons_Daylight

<+Terra> Jesse hangs out around the entry to the coffee shop, waiting for Kara to arrive.

<+MichaelM> Kara walks into the coffee shop, looking surprised to see Jesse loitering so close to the entrance. “Oh, hi Jesse,” Kara greets the woman with a smile, “It’s been a while.”

<+MichaelM>  Kara looks a bit different than when last Jesse saw her. Kara’s hair is now shock white, and she doesn’t look perpetually anxious. She’s still just as short and as tired-looking, but seems happier.

<+Terra> Jesse smiles a bit, wearing one of her flowing dresses and gives Kara a hug after a brief double take to make sure it is really her.  “Hey!  Long time no see.”

<+MichaelM> “Yeah.’ Kara returns the hug, smiling without a trace of her usual anxiety. “What’s been going on with you?”

<+Terra> Jesse takes a breath and then heads inside with Kara, ordering a tea before looking over and down at her.  “Well… That was part of why I needed to talk to you.  I kinda feel bad staying away like I have…”, she trails off a bit and looks thoughtful as she takes her tea and looks for a place to sit.  “Aaron wouldn’t let me go to the Theater, not that I blame him.  Some of those people are nuts.”

<+MichaelM> “Oh, undoubtedly,” Kara smiles knowingly as she orders a triple-shot espresso. “Everything’s going absolutely insane. Especially Arthur.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods at that and moves to a table.  “Well, I just wanted you to know I wasn’t abandoning anybody… But I just can’t risk being in the middle of all this stuff
going on there and the Lab and stuff…”

<+MichaelM> “That’s quite understandable,” Kara nods as she slides into the seat across from Jesse. “The stuff that’s going on down there…the things that *went* on down there…” Kara’s expression flatters for a moment, “I’m not going to lie. It hurts just to think about.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods softly in agreement.  “Well, if… If it were ‘just’ me I would be right there with you guys. Someone needs to help you keep the boys out of trouble.”

<+MichaelM> “Well, Zo helps,” Kara says, then her expression turns blank as she registers Jesse’s prior statement. “Wait. Not ‘just’ you..? Are you..?” Kara gestures vaguely as she trails off

<+Terra> “Yeah.  I’m pregnant.”, Jesse says before taking a sip of her tea.  “Aaron is terrified.  It’s not like we lead normal lives.  But that is why I couldn’t join you all directly.”

<+MichaelM> “Ohmygoodness, ohmygoodness, oh my goodness!” Kara squees, her already normal habit of talking quickly exacerbated by excitement and a larger-than healthy amount of caffeine beginning to enter her bloodstream. Questions begin to flow from her like an impatient and hyperactive open floodgate. “That’s wonderful! How long has it been? Do you know if it”s a boy or a girl? Have you picked names yet? What about schools? Have

<+MichaelM> you looked at any? Oh! And godparents! You need to pick godparents in advance.”

<+Terra> Jesse laughs a bit, nearly spilling her tea.  “I’m only like a month along… But I could feel it the first day.  I can tell it’s healthy but it may be a bit before we know anything more.  But you can understand why I prefer to avoid some of the others.”

<+MichaelM> “Of course, of course,” Kara waves Jesse’s comment off, “that’s completely understandable.” She then makes the questionable decision of trying to calm herself with another lengthy sip of her drink. “So…” She asks with a hint of mischief in her voice, “when are you planning on making an honest man out of him?”

<+Terra> “I don’t know.”, Jesse says thoughtfully.  “We hadn’t really thought of it as permanent or anything.  I don’t mind and he doesn’t either, aside from him constantly worrying that something bad is going to happen.”

<+MichaelM> “Well he should stop,” Kara says insistently. “After all, everyone knows that’s my job. As for getting married, that’s up to you two. I’d encourage you to at least talk about it. I’ll support you both either way, though.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods and polishes off her tea.  “Yeah… I will talk to him I mean we have similar views… Both of us come from a pagan sort of background.”  She smiles again.  “But I thought once we know some more, like boy or girl and stuff maybe you can go shopping with me.”

<+MichaelM> “Oh, I’d love to!” Kara responds enthusiastically. “Sorry if I’m a bit too excited, but I’m really excited for you both.”

<+Terra> Jesse chuckles.  “That’s okay.  I am too.  I’m just worried about Aaron.  He is giving himself gray hair.”

<+MichaelM> “Nothing wrong with whitening hair,” Kara says, smiling somewhat wryly. “Mutti actually had to stop my siblings and I from dying our hair white when we were young.”

<+Terra> Jesse chuckles faintly at that.  “Well, I prefer him not looking old before his time… And mostly just want him to calm down and not worry so much.  I mean, we have the capability to protect ourselves in ways most can’t.”

<+MichaelM> “This is true,” Kara nods with a conspiratorial smile. “I still have friends on the force from my days as a forensics consultant. It’s taking a bit of used to being the one who worries about them, not the other way around.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods.  “Yeah…  Most people don’t notice what I can do in the hospital… But I love it.  I have helped so many people.”

<+MichaelM> “It’s a nice feeling,” Kara nods in agreement, “being able to do what you love and what’s right at once. At least you can help people while they’re still alive. I usually help right the wrongs after the fact.” Kara turns to look out the window at the street for a moment before tuning back to Jesse. “I…I was offered a position back at the precinct. After this thing with the lab…I think I’m going to take it.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods.  “You should.  Like you just said… Do what makes you happy and is right at the same time.”, she glances out the window as well.  “So… Is Zo really what Aaron said? Like for real?”

<+MichaelM> “It depends on what he said,” Kara says vaguely. “If he said that Zo’s an angel, well…” Kara shrugs, “he’s not wrong.” She reaches under the collar of her sweater and pulls out a small steel crucifix hanging from a necklace. She looks down at it, beginning to play with it in her hand.

<+Terra> Jesse tilts her head a bit, taking that in.  “Hmmm.  That… Brings up a lot of questions to mind.”

<+MichaelM> “Yeah,” Kara nods, smiling fondly at the cross in her hands, “it’s weird, but in a good way. Kinda weird sharing head-space, though.”

<+Terra> Jesse nods and then starts to get up.  “I’ll have to meet him some time.  I promise not to be annoying with questions, too much.  But I should get home. I’ll keep in touch and we should totally hang out more.”

<+MichaelM> “Of course,” Kara looks up at Jesse smiling as the other woman stands. “I’ll see you around, Jesse. Congratulations again. Give Aaron my best.”

<+Terra> Jesse hugs Kara again.  “Thanks! I will.  You take care.”

<+MichaelM> Kara hugs Jesse back. “Yeah. You two take care as well, okay?”
